It wouldn’t be an adventure without some spontaneity, would it? This season, Drift Theory is following an unfolding route from the Atlantic to the Pacific via the Panama Canal. Our route is still being shaped and here are some of the destinations on the horizon.

The boat is a newly refit Beneteau 48, built for long passages and real conditions. There are 4 cabins, each with its own hot shower and electric head, finished with high-quality European linen bedding and plush towels that make it easy to truly rest. We host up to 8 guests, so there’s room to move, room to be alone, and space to sleep well. The galley functions like a proper kitchen and is where most days begin and end. We cook with what we find locally, and mornings usually start with coffee from our beloved La Marzocco espresso machine – because details matter, even at sea. The salon stays shaded through the heat of the day, offering a place to read, work on something unfinished, play a quiet game of chess, or linger around the table long after the plates are cleared. Starlink provides fast, reliable satellite internet for guests who need to work remotely, take calls, or stay connected while underway.
On deck, life slows down. There’s space to stretch, lie back, or gather as the light changes. The swim step is generous and simple, ideal for morning swims, long dips, and drying off in the sun. The boat is set up for real life at sea: a water maker, solar, air conditioning when needed, heat when it’s not. Everything is intentionally designed to make life aboard comfortable and easy.

Kelly is a friendly, USCG 100 ton licensed skipper and experienced fisherman with multiple ocean crossings. He has personally owned 22 boats and brings a deep, practical understanding of what it takes to maintain, operate, and care for a vessel at sea. Passionate about the ocean, he feels most at home on the water and maintains a calm, capable presence aboard. He holds medical, first responder, and CPR certifications and has repaired or replaced every major and minor system on a modern non foiling sailboat, giving him the skills necessary to keep the vessel safe, well maintained, and orderly at all times. In addition to his seamanship, Kelly carries professional filming equipment including drone and underwater systems, allowing the journey to be thoughtfully documented from above and below the waterline.
